About WSPE

The Washington Society of Professional Engineers (WSPE), established in 1937, is a professional association representing the interests of engineers from all fields of practice.

WSPE includes among its membership

  • Licensed Professional Engineers
  • Licensed Structural Engineers
  • Licensed Land Surveyors
  • Engineer Interns
  • Graduate Engineers
  • Engineering Students

The primary objective of the Society is to advance and promote the public welfare. In this connection, WSPE is quite active in the legislative process and government affairs. WSPE devotes hundreds of hours in giving testimony before legislative committees and governmental rule-making agencies on a vast array of subjects dealing with such areas as construction, environment, licensing, public health, and transportation.

We also work closely with Washington engineering schools to promote academic achievement and licensing. The Society conducts the national MATHCOUNTS program which is a unique coaching and competition program for 6th, 7th and 8th grade students in Washington. This program reaches over 500 schools and thousands of mathematically gifted children. The Society offers many other member benefits.
